Singapore
We arrived in Singapore on the morning of Saturday 24th June. The flight
from Cairo was a long 10 hours and we were pretty exhausted by the time
we got in. The temperature was only 26 (after 31 in Cairo) so we were
expecting it to be really nice, however the humidity was terrible and didn't
help at all!
After checking in to our hotel and having a quick nap, we caught up with
Jen's mother and brother who were also there. Jen's cousin, MeiMei came to
visit everyone with her lovely new daughter, Karly (3 months old). Last time
we travelled overseas to Singapore was for MeiMei's wedding.
Then on Sunday 25th was Jen's cousin Daniel's wedding at the Inter-Continental
Hotel in Singapore. The bride, Kelly, was exceptional, as one would expect!
A bunch of photos were taken by Jen's brother Chris of a whole lot of
their Singaporean relatives (on the father's side). Mind you, this was just
a fraction of them all! Chris is putting together a family tree, tracing our
roots and finding our relatives. It was quite interesting.
After the wedding on Sunday we spent the remaining days in Singapore mainly
shopping and eating! Singapore has the best Hainanese chicken rice ever, and
great satay too :) We also crossed the border to Malaysia on Tuesday, visiting
the border town of Johor Bahru.
We finally arrived home on Saturday, 1st July, at 6:30am and experienced the
horrors of the new GST. argh! It was great to be back, and to sleep in our
own bed again, although Jen had a few problems adjusting when she woke up!
